PERMANENT PROJECTION SYSTEM
IKONIX were tasked to create a visually stunning permanent projection system, mapping the State Border Markers between QLD and NSW.
The Vision
The markers symbolise an inviting and unobstructed doorway between the two States of Queensland and New South Wales. Making reference to traditional survey marking techniques and to the prominent volcanic history of the region, these markers reach a height of 8 metres.
The Tweed Shire Council required a number of designs for the projections that could be remotely changed throughout the year.

The Process
Our project team needed to determine the positioning of the fixed pole supporting the projector which then allowed us to calculate the suitable projector and lens for the project.
One of the challenges of the project was to design a fail proof system allowing us remote access to monitor the system and upload new content as required. We tested this over multiple weeks in our warehouse and when confident with the system, rolled this out to the installation.
The end result is a prominent striking border marker which now illuminates with custom designed content when the sun goes down. IKONIX are proud to be part of this project.
